In Brazil açaí is commonly eaten in a bowl. Pure Açaí from the frozen berries is blended with a dash of guarana syrup and typically served topped with banana and granola. It’s become the staple food of the locals in Rio who eat it any time of the day - breakfast, lunch, as a snack after sport or a trip to the beach. It’s the ultimate superfood with a taste that’s addictive.
You’ll need (Serves 1)
Two sachets of Riversea Organic Açaí Pure (200g)
A dash of Guarana Syrup (30-50ml) (or honey if you prefer)
For the topping
1 banana
2-3 tablespoons of granola
1. Leave the sachets defrosting for 5 minutes (or run under a cold tap for 1-2 minutes)
2. Break the contents up into a slushy consistency in the sachets then empty into a blender
3. Add a dash of Guaraná syrup and blend the ingredients on high for 30-40 seconds until smooth, thick and creamy (like a soft sorbet). If you want an alternative to guarana you can use honey
4. Pour into a bowl and enjoy it the traditional Rio way with granola and sliced banana on top or add any of your favourite toppings
Tip - You can make a variation on the classic Brazilian açaí bowl by blending banana, strawberry or blueberry (or all the above!) into the raw 100% organic açaí pulp with guarana syrup.
Add your own açaí bowl toppings with a variety of fresh or frozen fruit, raw nuts, goji berries, blueberries, a drizzle of honey, peanut or almond butter, cacao nibs, flax seeds, coconut or yoghurt. Start mixing and enjoy!
